Still Life with Thanatotic Animals

A camera is aimed through the viewfinder of a digital camera which is in turn aimed at a hunting trophy, thereby capturing the targeting and exposure information for the shot. This conceptual series in progress explores death-fetishism as common to photography, hunting, and the designation of 'heritage,' as all three embody denials of both life and the passage of time.

In installation, the photographs are hung from cables and lit only with red darkroom safelights.
