The Refinement Pavilions

2010–ongoing — crematory urns, ash, sealant; dimensions variable

In this ongoing series I cremate first printing/first edition copies of works whose authors wanted them destroyed, unread and unpublished. The ashes are then sealed in urns relating aesthetically to the literary work, based on inference (for in following the authors' wishes I refuse to read them). The author's wishes are therefore finally fulfilled in a project that questions authorship, legacy, and the nature of the literary/artistic work Each is labelled with its author, title, and Library of Congress call number.
