2018 — Found newspapers, mat board, frames - 20 x 16" each
Produced in residency at Samband Islenskra Myndlistarmanna, Reykjavik
Curated by Leila Timmins for Gallery44; Primary Exhibition, CONTACT Festival of Photography, Toronto, 2018
Found Icelandic newspapers from the period spanning/bookending WWII, matted to reveal only the landscape photograph on the cover page; these images embody the historical and authoritative representation of a landscape, defining a place through what it images as well as what it chooses to omit. When installed, pairs are mounted to rectangular outcroppings, jutting into the exhibition space like the pages of a broadsheet.
